WE DID IT, COASTSIDE!

THANK YOU so much to all those who voted and volunteered time, funds, and services to bring our community together to accelerate progress for all our students -- I'm honored and humbled to have been chosen by our voters to continue serving our students and community as a member of our school board!

A huge, special thanks to The Graphic Works, whose design talents and 'you don't have to be big to think big' motto embodies the can-do spirit of the Coastside and our campaign!

As we wrap up a divisive election season and tumultuous few years for our nation, may we all now rest for a brief moment and, regardless of our political affiliations,

take inspiration in the words of our President-Elect toward healing and unity --

‘Let this grim era of demonization in America begin to end here and now....

Let’s give each other a chance. It’s time to put away the harsh rhetoric, lower the temperature,

see each other again, listen to each other again.’

And from our first-ever Madam Vice President-Elect -- our communities have chosen

‘hope and unity, decency, science and, yes, truth.’

Over the past few years, our own local school community has grown a tremendously collaborative, student-focused network of educators, community partners, and families, more inclusive of our LatinX community and diverse population than ever before.

We’ve laid the foundation for sustainability both in terms of fiscal solvency

and social-emotional well-being of our school community members.

And we’ve clearly defined equity and justice and continuous improvement as key goals.

Much work remains to be done, yet there is great hope.  While the COVID-19 pandemic presents us with a multitude of ‘challenges,’ many are in fact ‘opportunities’ for returning to school campuses not exactly as we were before, but with a start toward the

longer-term focus on structural and mindset changes needed

to truly serve our students to the very best of our collective ability.

Meaningful progress will come not with harried, emotional reactions to the

daily onslaught of demands we all will continue to experience, but

through proactive, strategic planning to achieve those necessary changes together.

I’m fully committed to this process and our amazing school community,

and hope you join me in this journey!
